Child marriage, in India according to Indian law, is a marriage where either the woman is below the age of 18 or the man is below the age of twenty-one years. Most child marriages involve underage women, many of whom are in poor socio-economic conditions.
In India, despite the strict prohibition of child marriage, it is still practiced and executed widely. Most of the rural areas and villages still believe and continue to practice the crime of child marriage.
In our organization came a girl who was just five years old and was going to be a victim of child marriage. We adopted her and saved her from getting into that dark trauma of early marriage. Now she is with us, goes to school, and wants to become capable and educated enough to fight against early marriage culture in society..
